What is tri rated?

Tri-rated cable, also known as BS6231 cable, is a type of electrical cable that is used in low voltage applications. Its name comes from its ability to be rated by three different standards - BS6231, UL/CSA and IEC.

Tri-rated cable is made up of stranded copper conductors which are insulated with a heat-resistant PVC material that can withstand temperatures up to 105°C. It is then covered with a PVC sheath that provides protection from mechanical damage and environmental factors.

Some common applications of tri-rated cable include wiring in switchgear and control panels, as well as in internal wiring of electrical equipment such as appliances, pumps, and motors. It is also widely used in the automotive industry for wiring harnesses.

Tri-rated cable is known for its flexibility, durability, and resistance to heat, making it a popular choice for many industries. It is available in a variety of colors and sizes to meet the needs of different applications.
